Occlusal / Stabilization Splints
Protect Your Bite at Night
If your patient tends to grind their teeth at night, chances are that they are wearing the surfaces of their teeth down, increasing the risk of cavities and damage to crowns and fillings. This also is often linked to temporomandibular joint and muscle disorders (TMD or TMJD) or lockjaw symptoms, as the tension in the jaw increases with the pressure being put on the teeth. Put an end to the cycle by wearing a custom-fit splint by TRS Dental Lab, which protects the teeth and the bite during sleep.
Splints can be made either on the Upper or Lower arches , upper splints are referred to as Michigan Splint and lower as Tanner Splints, both splint designs have in common the same features of an ideal occlusion (1) Multiple even contacts on posterior teeth in the retruded contact position with lighter contacts on anterior teeth , (2) Anterior guidance ramp providing canine guidance and disclusion of the posterior teeth in lateral and protrusive excursions.
Splints can help and protect you if you suffer from:
- Headaches
- Jaw pain
- Toothaches
- Tension in your jaw
- Low enamel on your molars
- Protect Crowns & fillings
